Consumer Products

Polymers, additives, and custom compounds for the footwear, fitness gear, and household products people use every day.

About

Think about the last pair of sneakers you laced up, the grip on your favorite kitchen knife, or the mat under your feet at the gym. Each one depends on rubber that was formulated to look, feel, and perform a certain way. ARP Materials supplies the rubber materials for consumer products that make those everyday moments work.

Consumer goods live in a demanding world. Shoppers judge a product in seconds, by how it feels in the hand or under the foot. Then they expect it to last for years. A sole that scuffs too fast or a handle that turns tacky can sink a product’s reviews.

Brands also juggle tight margins and short product cycles. A new style or color might go from concept to shelf in a matter of months. Raw materials can’t be the bottleneck.

ARP keeps you moving. Our team helps you choose polymers and additives that hit your targets for comfort, durability, and appearance, without overspending on performance you don’t need. If you’re launching something new, we can also connect you with custom compound options so you don’t have to develop a formula from scratch.

Supply matters too, especially as more brands bring production back to North America. With inventory staged across the U.S., ARP gives you a dependable source close to home. That way, you can focus on designing products people love.

Footwear Materials

Shoe Sole Rubber Compounds

Shoe soles need grip, abrasion resistance, and the right feel underfoot. Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is the backbone of many sole compounds. It’s tough, affordable, and easy to process.

Other polymers fine-tune performance. Natural rubber (NR) adds flexibility and grip, while polybutadiene (BR) boosts abrasion resistance. For oil- and slip-resistant work boots, nitrile rubber (NBR) is a strong choice.

High Styrene Resins for Footwear

High styrene resins (HSR) add hardness and stiffness to sole compounds. They’re a classic choice for heels, unit soles, and light-colored soles where carbon black isn’t an option. As a result, you get a firm, durable sole without extra weight.

Specialty Footwear Polymers

Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) adds oil, ozone, and flame resistance. That makes it useful for safety, industrial, and outdoor footwear. To complete the compound, we also offer carbon black, accelerators, curing agents, and blowing agents for lightweight sponge soles.

Other Applications Supported

Fitness Mats and Gym Flooring

Gym floors and fitness mats need cushioning, durability, and slip resistance. SBR and reclaim are common choices because they balance performance and cost. For foam exercise mats, NBR/PVC blends and blowing agents create a soft, resilient feel.

Grips and Handles

Tool handles, bike grips, and kitchen utensils need a comfortable, non-slip feel. NBR and NBR/PVC blends resist oils from hands and stay grippy over time. Thermoplastic rubber (TPR) and SBR are also good options for molded grips.

Sporting Goods

Balls, paddles, and protective gear rely on rubber for bounce, grip, and impact absorption. Natural rubber and polybutadiene deliver strong rebound. Meanwhile, butyl rubber holds air exceptionally well, making it a top choice for ball bladders and inner tubes.

Appliance Seals and Components

Washers, dryers, and dishwashers depend on seals that resist heat, water, and detergents. EPDM and CPE handle these conditions well. For bonded appliance parts, our rubber-to-metal adhesives keep components secure through years of use.

Power Cords and Garden Hoses

Cords and hoses must stay flexible, resist weather, and meet safety standards. ARP offers custom PVC compounds, CPE, and EPDM for these products. Flame retardants are also available for cords that must pass fire tests.

Household Tapes and Adhesives

Consumer tapes need reliable tack and clean performance. Natural rubber, butyl reclaim, and SBR are proven choices for household and hobby tapes.

Silicone Housewares

Silicone handles heat, cold, and repeated washing with ease. That’s why it’s popular for bakeware, utensils, and kitchen gadgets. Through US Silicones, ARP supplies custom silicone compounds made in the United States.
